The Sri Lankan duo of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene bids farewell to one day international cricket. Sri Lanka's crushing loss against South Africa in the quarter-finals at Sydney brought down the curtains on the magnificent careers of this duo. While Sangakkara had been in phenomenal form during the World Cup, Jayawardene hasn't been able to stamp his authority in the tournament. (Farewell Jayawardene, Sangakkara!)
The two best friends, popularly known as Mahela and Sanga, have shouldered the responsibility of Sri Lankan cricket on their shoulders and are respected round the world for their gentle and classy personalities.
Sachin Tendulkar was the first to wish them luck and then the entire cricket fraternity joined in on twitter to shower their praise on them.
