Virender Sehwag denies contesting Lok Sabha polls, Kevin Pietersen urges him to do so
Virender Sehwag quashed speculation after a news report claimed that the Indian cricketer might contest the General Elections on a Congress ticket from the South Delhi constituency.

Out-of-favour India batsman Virender Sehwag on Friday, rejected reports that he was mulling contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket.
Sehwag took to twitter to deny the speculation after a news report had claimed that the India cricketer may contest the General Elections on a Congress ticket from the South Delhi constituency.
"I m not contesting election, I don't know why media is running this story...," Sehwag wrote on his twitter page.

Soon after Sehwag's tweet, axed England cricketer Kevin Pietersen re-tweeted, saying: "You should! I would vote for you.."

Sehwag's name came up in the poll fray after the report quoted highly placed sources as saying that the Congress was considering to field the Nawab of Najafgarh from a South Delhi seat.
It is noteworthy to mention that Sehwag's sister Anju Meherwal is a municipal councllor from Dakshinpuri Extension ward, which is part of the South Delhi constituency.
The Congress has already nominated five sitting MPs in the National Capital while the remaining two seats are yet to be named.
