Smith got to his 50 off 53 balls with six fours and then wasted little time in reaching the three-figure mark. He took only 36 balls more to get to his hundred as Australia reached 181/1 in 33 overs.
It was Smith's fourth fifty plus score of the tournament, all at number three since he took over the slot from Shane Watson in the pool game against Afghanistan. Smith's stay in the middle was brought to an end by Umesh Yadav, whose bouncer was top edged to Rohit Sharma at deep square leg. He had shared a 182-run stand for the second wicket with Aaron Finch (81).
Smith is the second Australian to reach over 50 in four consecutive World Cup innings after David Boon (1987-1992).
