# Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman to post register hundreds against South Africa in South Africa, bettering the four hundreds each posted by England's Wally Hammond and Australia's Neil Harvey.
 
# Tendulkar has become the first batsman to complete a hundred with a six six times, extending his record.
 
# Tendulkar's tally of 29 centuries away from home is also a record.
 
# Harbhajan Singh became the third Indian all-rounder to complete the double of 2,000 runs and 300 wickets.
Kapil Dev (5248 + 434 in 131) and Anil Kumble (2506 + 619 in 132) were the first two all-rounders to accomplish the said double for India.
 

# Tendulkar and Harbhajan were involved in a stand of 76 for the seventh wicket - India's highest at Newlands, surpassing the 75 between Tendulkar and Kapil Dev in January 1993.
 
# Dale Steyn has completed his 50 wickets in ten Tests against India, capturing 52 at an average of 18.53, including four five-wicket hauls and once instance of ten wickets in a Test match.
