Parthiv Patel is all set to don the gloves for India in the limited overs series in the West Indies. In a chat on International Cricket Council's radio station, the 26-year-old said he is looking forward to the challenge in the absence of MS Dhoni.
The Gujarat player who was behind the stumps recently for the Kochi Tuskers in the just concluded Indian Premier League, said that his confidence has increased manifold since making his devut for the national side. " I was very young when I first came into the side, but I've now more confidence and belief having scored runs in my domestic games." Patel is expected to take the gloves in ahead of Wridhiman Saha in the five-match ODI series and a T20 beginning June 4, before Dhoni returns to the side for the Test series.
Patel also mentioned that he has changed his style of batting over time in a bid to make it to the Indian national team and he now hopes to get some runs against the West Indies. "I was willing to change anything about my cricket in order to get into the side and if it meant changing my batting so I would come in higher up the order then so be it." He however said the tour to the Caribbeans is the only thing on his mind and that he is not looking to plan beyond the series.
