Australia vs South Africa, 1st ODI at Perth - As it Happened

Nathan Coulter-Nile is adjudged the Man of the Match. He feels that the first game this summer, they were a bit sloppy. Coulter-Nile is also happy to play in front of his home crowd. Appreciated Bailey for playing well and using the wicket nicely.

South Africa's chase began with the fall of some quick wickets. They lost four wickets quite early and de Villiers was left with a humungous task to guide the lower middle order along with him. He went on to score 80 runs and Miller partnered well with him for his 65, but the Aussies kept chipping deeper into the South African line-up. Coulter-Nile picked up four wickets, his best performance in his ODI career. The last wicket stand between Morkel and Tahir lasted 46 runs but was beyond any threat.

Australia go 1-0 up in this 5-match ODI series. They were a bit shaky with the bat but their lower middle order rescued them and got the score to 300. Bailey scored a handy 70 and important contributions from Wade and Maxwell ensured that a competitive total was put up on the board.
