Virender Sehwag turns Good Samaritan, helps 12-year-old to go to school

Think Virender Sehwag and you will think of a batsman who lived by the motto "I see the ball, I hit the ball." And it seems Sehwag has almost a similar no-nonsense motto off the field as well. No wonder then that as soon as he heard that a little boy is struggling financially to go to school, he stepped forward to help.

Twelve-year-old Rishab, like most children, loved to go to school. But how could he continue his education when his family was not in a position to afford his school fees? The plight of this seventh standard student from Ghaziabad was highlighted by a radio channel. And luckily for Rishab, the Nawab of Najafgarh was listening.

Speaking to NDTV, Sehwag, currently out of the national team, said: "It just happened that I was listening to the radio and heard Rishab's story. I called the radio station and said that I would take the responsibility to provide free education to Rishab. It's my or everybody's moral duty if they can take one kid or two kids and give free education to them."

For Rishab, all his prayers seem to have been answered. "When Sehwag told me that he would sponsor my education, I was extremely happy. I can now study in a good school and in future I want to help and educate my younger sisters. I have a huge passion for cricket and one day, I would like to become a cricketer."

Rishab will be studying at the Sehwag International School in Haryana which is known for its cricketing facilities.
