Mumbai:
Young Cheteshwar Pujara was treated to an exclusive masterclass, batting at the other end as Sachin Tendulkar scored a fluent 38 not out in the first innings of his 200th and last Test match on Thursday.
It was Pujara's date with history. For years hereafter he will be written about as the man who batted stoically alongside Sachin in his last Test, in a stadium so loud, he couldn't have heard himself think.
At stumps, Pujara was playing on 34, made up of four boundaries and many quick singles, each one of which was cheered lustily by adoring Sachin fans as it brought the Master Blaster to the batting end.
Cheteshwar Pujara was born in 1988; Sachin Tendulkar debuted a year later in 1989.
