Karachi:
Moin, who played 69 Tests and 219 One-Day Internationals, said he believed it was far more important to have the UDRS in ODIs then in any other form of the game.
"I am happy they have this system being experimented with in Test matches but it is required more in one-dayers where the margin of error is less and one bad decision can change the course of a match," he said.
Moin pointed out that a case in point was the leg before decision against Pakistan opener Salman Butt in the third one-dayer against Australia at Adelaide yesterday where Sri Lankan umpire Ashoka de Silva gave him leg before when the ball had clearly pitched outside the leg stump.
"In Test matches even if you get one or two bad decisions a team can fightback over a period of five days and two innings but there is no such second chance in ODIs where a result comes in maximum 100 overs," Moin said.
The former captain who has now taken to coaching and media assignments said the UDRS in Tests had shown positive results despite the reservations of some umpires and players.
"It is working no doubt about that because in some places umpires have clearly been found to be short of good decision making skills but it also means that a player's career is not damaged because of one poor decision," Moin said.
Moin said the ICC must also work with broadcasters to have a uniform UDRS technology for all countries in Test and ODI cricket and also resolve cost issues with boards and broadcasters.
"It is necessary to have UDRS in one-day matches because it would make the game more interesting for the spectators and television viewers as well," he added.
Moin also offered his services to help coach the Pakistan team in the wicketkeeping or other departments.
"My country has given me a lot of fame and money and I am ready to repay that even on honorary basis if the board requires my services," he added.
