Vice-captain of Team India Virat Kohli on Thursday, was at his relaxed best as he got set to pad-up for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He however wants to just enjoy his good form and the game and not worry about milestones.
Speaking to NDTV, the stylish batsman said that he has been extremely satisfied with his form in the recent past but said he did not expect the position of vice-captain. "The past few months have been really good for me. I have been really satisfied with what I have done (but) I never saw myself as vice-captain," he said, two days before his team's Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Daredevils.
Kohli has the distinction of lamming three hundreds and a fifty in his last four ODIs but milestones however, are just stepping stones for Kohli who said that the emotions behind knocks are not understood by people. "These milestones come along the way when you start to focus and prepare for your game. It's nice but I do not think about it. I like to help my team to win," he said adding that sometimes, people don't understand emotion behind a knock.
Kohli also revealed that Delhi team-mate and former vice-captain Gautam Gambhir was one of the first to congratulate him when he was promoted as MS Dhoni's deputy. "Gautam was the first to congratulate me. I do not know why people said he was upset with the decision. As professional cricketers, you have to have the respect factor."
