Killer of cricketer Gagan Deep gunned down by police

Police claimed to have gunned down the criminal allegedly involved in the killing of cricketer Gagandeep.

Police claimed to have gunned down the criminal allegedly involved in the killing of cricketer Gagandeep.

Ankit Chauhan, a dreaded criminal and carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was killed by Bulandshar police in an encounter.

"We intercepted the criminal at a checkpost. He opened fire on being stopped and was eventually killed in the encounter," IGP Meerut Javed Akhtar said.

A police inspector was also injured in the incident. Gagandeep, 19, was killed during a shootout at an eatery in Meerut in October 2009.
