Kaif's double ton puts Central Zone in good position

Skipper Mohammad Kaif notched up his maiden double century in first class cricket to guide Central Zone to a huge first innings total of 480 for eight.

Skipper Mohammad Kaif notched up his maiden double century in first class cricket to guide Central Zone to a huge first innings total of 480 for eight declared against East Zone on the third day of the weather-hit Duleep Trophy quarterfinal match.

Kaif smashed an unbeaten 202 in 366 balls which contained 23 fours and a six.

Stumper Naman Ojha (29) and spinner Piyush Chawla (27) were the other contributors for the Central Zone team today.

Bad light hit the proceedings of the match yet again as play started late and was called off early.

Overnight at 143, Kaif started off well today and kept the scoreboard ticking with his fluent strokes and agile running. He forged two crucial partnerships with Ojha and Chawla to help Central Zone cross the 450 mark.
