The Justice Mudgal IPL Probe Committee met here Sunday and named former India captain Sourav Ganguly to assist the committee in its investigation into the betting and spot-fixing scandal in last year's Indian Premier League.

"The Committee held its meeting in Mumbai on 7.6.2014 and 8.6.2014. The Committee considered the names of a few players and decided to appoint Mr. Sourav Ganguly as the player to assist the Committee in its probe," a statement here read.

"Consent was sought from Mr. Ganguly and he has agreed to assist the Committee as per the Hon'ble Supreme Court order dated 16.5.2014," the statement added.

Srinivasan.

The other two members of the committee are L. Nageswar Rao (additional solicitor general of India) and senior advocate Niloy Dutta.
