For the second time in two days, points had to be shared in the Indian Premier League due to persistent rain as the match between hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings had to be called off on Wednesday.
A day after Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers shared points at the Eden Gardens, rain played havoc this time in Bangalore as despite a delayed toss which was won by Bangalore's stand-in skipper Virat Kohli, the groundsmen kept rushing in and out with the covers.
Although a 5-overs-a-side match could have been played had the rain stopped and the outfield had been deemed fit to play on, officials ruled that the two teams share points as drizzling continued relentlessly. The previous match of the day however, was won by Mumbai Indians who edged Kings XI Punjab in the last over. (Read match report here)
Both teams now have nine points from eight matches but MS Dhoni's side continue to be slightly ahead on the basis of net run-rate. (Points Table)
