Indian Premier League team anthems, the fun and the ridicule
While Mumbai Indians' team anthem 'Duniya Hila Denge' has gone terribly wrong so far during the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League, Kings XI Punjab's team song 'Dhoom Punjabi' has gelled perfectly with Glenn Maxwell and Sandeep Sharma ensuring they left the United Arab Emirates with five wins on the bounce.

The Indian Premier League team anthems played out loud in South Africa in 2009 and they have been welcomed with arms wide open in the United Arab Emirates this year. However, it would seem that some teams got their team songs terribly wrong based on performances so far in the seventh edition of the IPL while some of the other anthems have gelled perfectly. Let's have a look.
MUMBAI INDIANS
Unfortunately, for the Mumbai Indians this year, the 'Duniya Hila Denge' anthem has been a source of continuous mockery by IPL fans all over the world. They are doing everything right in 'Dum lagayenge, jaan lagayenge, loha gala denge, pani jala denge' but their world has come to a big standstill. The only thing that is keeping them going is 'apni zameen ki chahat mein hum, dhande uda denge, chakke chuda denge'. When the tournament moves to India from May 2, Mumbai Indians will be looking to make amends for their horror show so far in IPL 7. Losing five first games in a row is worse than the Delhi Daredevils' first four last year. And you thought no one could break that record!
KINGS XI PUNJAB
With the way last year's million-dollar hero from Down Under, Glenn Maxwell is playing for the Kings XI Punjab in IPL 7, their 'Dhoom Punjabi' anthem is like sweet music to the ears. However, captain George Bailey did not know what team song 'Panga na lo' means when enquired by Harsha Bhogle in one of the post-match presentations but no side seems to be taking the Kings XI side lightly this year. While the team has lived up to 'Machade dhoom Punjabi', Preity Zinta went all 'Jhoom Punjabi' in the UAE. (Kings XI Punjab's fifth consecutive win)
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
The Kolkata Knight Riders may have won the IPL in 2012 but during most seasons, their anthem has been perfectly going in the direction of 'Too hot, too cool, Ami Kolkata, we fool'. Fans have placed a lot of faith in this team, co-owned as it is, by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. However, on most occasions, the Knight Riders have failed to even make it to the playoffs. This year too, they have been topsy-turvy in their performances, winning two and losing three, and losing a few more games might just invite more 'Korbo Lorbo Harbo' taunts. SUNRISERS HYDERABAD
Considering how well Sunrisers Hyderabad played in their debut season last year, reaching the semifinals and qualifying for the main stage of the Champions League T20, we can be a little lenient on them. However, they do need to 'Step up' rather than 'Step in the field just like a fire' all the time. Losing three games out of five would certainly not do them any good if they aim to make the playoffs. RAJASTHAN ROYALS
Rajasthan Royals' 'Phir wahi Lalkaar hai, Halla bol' is still as inspiring as it was during the last few seasons. This team always seems to come back hard whenever they are put in a little bother after losing games. And the way they bowled out one of the most star-studded sides in the IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore, for just 70 runs this year, speaks volumes about their grit and determination. 'Pichali baar jo kiya aapne, is baar bhi karjana hai, royals royals rajasthan royals, silsilla jo chal padha hai, aage use badhana hai'---the players must have this ringing loud in their ears. Seems like mentor Rahul Dravid has an anthem session with them everyday. (Read: James Faulkner hailed as Rajasthan Royals' hero)
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE
With the way the Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently going in the Indian Premier League, their 'Even more Bangalore' anthem could easily be turned into 'Even more losses Bangalore'. Amid injury, star player Chris Gayle has been busy following English Premier League football and his favourite club Manchester United's revival process. Among others, AB de Villiers and Yuvraj Singh have still not found their groove, and Nic Maddinson has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. Are you 'Even more' game for losses? DELHI DAREDEVILS
It has been heartening to see 'Munde Delhi ke' actually on the 'front foot' this year with some inspiring performances under the guidance of coach Gary Kirsten. However, they have still only won two out of the five games they have played, which is not a very impressive overall record. Their 'Apne Munde' campaign could fall flat and suggest they are a local club team if captain Kevin Pietersen cannot dig them out of the hole they are in, now that he is back to full fitness. CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
There might be some questions as to where Chennai Super Kings have been all through this article but I could not come up with anything to poke some fun into their anthem, once again this year. Having lost the opening game to Kings XI Punjab despite scoring 200 because of 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer', Chennai once again lived under 'Khele hum Himmat se, Maare hum taaqat se". The result was four wins in a row under Dhoni's incredible leadership and a second position in the points table. With the way Chennai are going, they look all set to reach the playoffs again this year but can they also win the IPL again? (Read: MS Dhoni is IPL's unbeaten hero)
