When Lasith Malinga bowled the 30th over of the day, not many realised he had bowled just five balls to Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni. The match went on to end in a draw and only then was the worth of that 'un-bowled' delivery was felt most.

India drew Sri Lanka off the final delivery of the match. With four required off the final ball, it was Malinga again who steamed in only to be taken for three runs at deep extra cover. With just a run left for a win, the Indian skipper would rue the fact that he did not have another legal delivery bowled at him earlier on.

Umpires are known to make human errors and instances of the same nature have been recorded in the past. In a series in which Australia and India are battling for one-upmanship, the points or the lack of it will be a sore point in the Indian camp. India have overtaken Australia in the points table with 10 points but with a gap of just one, Australia will look to take their place back.

Dhoni may or may not have taken a run off the 29.6, but the prospect of 'what could have been but was not' makes this game as exciting as it was on Adelaide on Tuesday. "I was informed of the over with a ball less. There is not much that can be done about it now. It could have been a dot as well," said the Indian skipper in the post-match press conference.
