When Chennai Super Kings won their game against Kolkata Knight Riders by 34 runs in Ranchi on Friday, it gave Mahendra Singh Dhoni a unique distinction in T20 games. It was the 100th win for Dhoni in the history of T20 games and he became the first and only captain to win a century of T20 matches. Dhoni's captaincy record reads - captained 169; won 100; lost 65; tied 2 and no result games - 2.
There were other records too. Dhoni overtook Kumar Sangakkara to pocket the second-best record of most dismissals in T20 games. On Friday, when Dhoni caught KKR's Robin Uthappa for 47 off Ravindra Jadeja, the catch gave him his 122nd dismissal and with it the second place among keepers who have effected most dismissals in T20 games. Kamran Akmal occupies the first place with 144 dismissals. The Ranchi game was Dhoni's 175th T20 game. He became the first wicket-keeper-batsman to appear in 175 T20 games.
Dhoni has an aggregate of 46 catches as a wicket keeper in IPL. Four more catches will give him 50 catches. He would then become the second keeper in IPL to pouch 50 catches. Adam Gilchrist has taken 51 catches. Dhoni has an aggregate of 65 dismissals in IPL. Gilchrist has effected 67 dismissals.
Dhoni has an aggregate of 83 catches in the history of T20 games as a wicket-keeper. He now holds the record for most catches in T20 games.
