The first practice match between India and West Indies Cricket Board President's XI ended in a draw. It was a two-day affair and Indian players had a decent outing with bat and ball.
India's top six batsmen, except skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, scored fifties. Since it was a two-day game, the teams decided to bat a day each. All Indian bowlers, except Ishant Sharma, finished among the wickets.
Conditions in the Caribbean have changed a lot over the years. No more do they produce the fearsome pace and bounce that once defined West Indies cricket and their brutal pacemen.
Leg-spinner Amit Mishra exploited the conditions well to finish with four wickets for 67. Interestingly, India's lead spinner Ravichandran Ashwin didn't play the match.
Now that the West Indies have named their squad for the first Test in Antigua from July 21, the WICB President's XI could see some changes. India will surely test the rest of their squad and that includes opener Murali Vijay and Ashwin.
