Vaidisova out of Bell Challenge
Top-seeded Nicole Vaidisova dropped out of the Bell Challenge on Wednesday night because of a right wrist injury.

Vaidisova won the opening set 6-2, then fell 6-3 in the second before stopping play in the first-round match.
In a late second-round match, second-seeded Vera Zvonareva of Russia beat France's Severine Bermond 6-3, 7-6 (6).
Also in second-round play, third-seeded Julia Vakulenko of the Ukraine advanced to the quarterfinals at Club Avantage Multi-Sports de Quebec, beating Canada's Stephanie Dubois 6-1, 2-6, 7-5.
Vakulenko will face fifth-seeded Olga Govortsova of Belarus. Govortsova led Alina Jidkova 6-3, 5-0 when the Russian retired because of dizziness.
In first-round matches, Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson beat fourth-seeded American Meilen Tu 6-2, 6-2; American Julie Ditty defeated sixth-seeded Alize Cornet of France 7-5, 6-3; and Estonia's Maret Ani beat Slovenia's Andreja Klepac 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.
On Tuesday, American star Lindsay Davenport beat seventh-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany 6-3, 6-3.
Davenport, playing her third singles tournament since returning from the birth of her first child, will face Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak on Thursday.
