Kolkata:
Bollywood stars with tennis professionals got together to pitch in for the ritual mixing of the traditional Christmas cake at an ITC hotel in the city.
In an action far removed from tennis, participants at the Sunfeast Tournament not only learnt to wrap a sari but give a hand in the traditional ritual mixing of the Christmas cake.
To their credit in true sportsmanship fashion the women got into the act with fervour and fun.
The room was soon filled with the heady aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg mixed into 150 kilogram of assorted dried fruits and nuts doused in a generous helping of the finest whiskey, rum, brandy and cointreau.
The players took to their new roles in a flash.
"Tennis is like life and in that sense cake making is also integral. But in tennis its harder, cause when you are in the court you have to play much harder to scucceed," said Julia Efremova, Russian Tennis player.
Actress Rituparna Sen Gupta had more than one reason to be thrilled with the event.
"We had loads of fun with the tennis players. It added a lot to the excitement and I felt great," said Rituparna Sengupta, Actress.
Though there were no Indian players at the event the mix of tennis players along with the galaxy of chefs created a Chak De India feel.
Christmas is all about sharing and nowhere is this more experienced than in the ritual of the cake mixing.
This is one dish where too many hands will not spoil the dish.
