Sharapova, Myskina move into last 16

Indian Wells: Russian duo Maria Sharapova and Anastasia Myskina made it through to the last 16 of the Pacific Life Open at Indian Wells on Monday, but both had to come from behind to do so against awkward opponents. Number four seed Myskina dropped the first set against Venezuela's Maria Vento-Kabchi before emerging the winner 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Sharapova, 16, might have suffered the ignominy of losing to a player two years her junior but emerged the victor 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 against Bulgaria's Sesil Karatancheva. The pair now meet each other for a place in the quarterfinals. (AP)
