Serena Williams won the 12th Grand Slam of her career as she outplayed Justine Henin of Belgium in three sets. Williams won 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
Serena smashed 12 sizzling aces past the Belgian and pocketed a whopping 32 winners in the 2 hours 7 minute match to clinch the Australian Open trophy for the 5th time in her career.
The defending champion took the first set convincingly but was put on the back foot by former world number 1 Henin in the second set. The third set saw an array of service breaks by Serena Williams who finally served for the championship and succeeded with ease.
