New Delhi:

Indore will host the Davis Cup Group I Asia/Oceania first round tie between India and Chinese Taipei from January 31 to February 2.

The Madhya Pradesh Tennis Association (MPTA) complex in Indore consists of six synthetic flood courts and the association is creating facilities for 3000 fans to witness the event. This will be the first time the state will host the Davis Cup.

"All India Tennis Association (AITA) has decided that the Davis Cup Tie between India and Chinese Taipei will be held at Indore under the aegis of MPTA. AITA is pleased to note that MPTA secretary Anil Dhupar and his team will be holding such a mega event for the first time," AITA secretary general Bharat Oza said in a statement on Monday.

The AITA last week appointed former Davis Cupper Anand Amritraj as the new non-playing captain of the Davis Cup team. The committee also decided that Zeeshan Ali will continue as the coach.

The 61-year-old Amritraj replaced S P Misra, who lost his job after eight top players revolted, calling for changes in Davis Cup playing conditions, early this year.

The decision to appoint Amritraj was taken at All India Tennis Association's Executive Committee meeting in Goa. He will remain in job for year 2014.
