The American pair of Butorac and Rajeev Ram lifted the Chennai Open doubles title after defeating Swiss pair of Jean-Claude Scherrer and Stanislas Wawrinka

The unseeded American pair of Eric Butorac and Rajeev Ram lifted the Chennai Open doubles title after defeating Swiss pair of Jean-Claude Scherrer and Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets in the final on Sunday.

Butorac-Ram pair, who got a walkover in the semifinal, beat their opponents 6-3, 6-4 in the final of the hard court event.

The winners dropped only eight games before making the final and showed better understanding and coordination in downing Bejing Olympic champion Wawrinka and his partner. They broke Scherrer/Wawrinka once each in the both the sets.

The winners split the winning purse of $23,000 and also get 250 ranking points each.

The runners-up divide the $11,900 prize money and get 150 ranking points each.

The Americans had advanced to final after German pair of Bjorn Phau and Rainer Schuettler had withdrawn due to a wrist injury to latter.

Schuettler had also withdrawn from the singles semifinal match against India's Somdev Devvarman.
