Murali Vijay (97) has registered the highest individual score by an Indian opener in Tests at Kingsmead, Durban. VVS Laxman (96 off 171 balls in December 2010) was the first Indian player to be got out in the nervous nineties at Kingsmead.

Murali Vijay may have missed out on a hundred but his 97 runs did put him among the statistics:
