After being put in to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a good start as the duo of David Warner-Shikhar Dhawan added 46 runs for the first wicket before Carlos Brathwaite displayed some brilliant acrobatic skills to get rid off the latter. The tourists then lost wickets at regular intervals but Warner stood firm at one end to bring up his seventh fifty of the season. At the end, Naman Ojha and Bhuvneshwar Kumar hit useful 23 runs in two overs to guide their team to a competitive total. In reply, Karun Nair anchored the chase for Delhi Daredevils with his magnificent innings and his crucial partnerships with Rishabh Pant and Brathwaite helped the hosts secure a win that moved them to 14 points and also kept their play-off hopes alive. A win is a must for DD. At No. 6 in the standings with 12 points from as many games, Zaheer Khan's team need two full points to catch up with RCB, KKR and MI and remain in contention for a last-four berth. Four defeats in their last five matches is not a very pleasing advertisement of their team's caliber. But Delhi Daredevils have shown the temerity to fight back and Friday night, they have to do this again.
It won't be easy to knock off SRH, who will be without Ashish Nehra. In terms of balance, Sunrisers have the perfect composition. David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh have some solid bowling company in Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mustafizur Rahman and Moises Henriques.
DD's team composition is anybody's guess. With frequent changes in the playing XI, mentor Rahul Dravid has kept the squad on its toes. But if Delhi have to come good, their South African troika of Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy and Chris Morris need to fire.
SRH are in a much happier position. A win will guarantee them a spot in the top two. A defeat will not hurt them immediately. Catch live cricket score of DD vs SRH here.
