Both Kings XI Punjab (one win from five games) and Mumbai Indians (two wins from six matches) need a win to keep their hopes of a playoff berth alive.
Defending champions Mumbai Indians have been poor starters in the last two seasons but they may not be third time lucky to make the knockouts if Rohit Sharma's team continues to play the way it has been.
MI are yet to play the perfect team game. Barring Rohit Sharma and Krunal Pandya's form, the team has generally struggled in most games. MI's middle-order must score the runs for their bowlers to defend.
Kings XI Punjab also have had a similar story. Manan Vohra and Murali Vijay's good starts have not been capitalised by the middle order where skipper David Miller and Glenn Maxwell have flattered to deceive.
Mohali's generally good batting conditions should help the batsmen make a mark in Monday's match.
