The 2016 Indian Premier League opening ceremony will be held in Mumbai's NSCI on Friday evening. Like previous years, Bollywood will give IPL a glamorous start. Hotstar are the official digital streaming partners of the 2016 IPL and live streaming will also be available on the Hotstar app. Live TV coverage of the opening ceremony and all the matches will be available on Set MAX, Sony Six, Sony ESPN, Sony ESPN HD and Sony Six HD. Multilingual commentary will also be available on TV channels. Live coverage of the opening ceremony will start at 7:30 PM IST (14:00 GMT)
The first match of the tournament will be played on April 9 in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium between defending champions Mumbai Indians and debutants Rising Pune Supergiants. The match will start at 8:00 PM IST (14:30 GMT). Day matches, on weekends, will start at 4 PM IST (10:30 GMT)

The 2015 edition of IPL surpassed all expectations, scorching TV screens with a bumper opening week in April last year. IPL achieved a cumulative reach of 105 million viewers in the first 5 matches on SONY MAX, SONY SIX and SONY AATH, as compared to the 2014 season that reached out to 91 million viewers.
