Sunrisers Hyderabad win by seven wickets to keep alive their playoff chances. Dhawan (50) and Warner (59) added 100 for the first wicket and useful knocks from Naman Ojha, Finch and Sammy helped the hosts to a comfortable win.

18:52 IST: SRH were 116/1 after 15 overs, still needing 45 from the last five when David Warner clobbered Abu Nechim for 6. SRH have the upper hand with Warner's form and Finch and Sammy to follow.

 

18:48 IST: David Warner continued his great form and brought up his 5th fifty this season and 15th overall in the IPL as SRH looked well on course to notch up a win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

 

18:40 IST: WICKET! Low after the high. Moments after getting to a 39-ball half-century, Dhawan was run-out, but not before helping SRH to 100/1 off 12.3 overs. Naman Ojha joins Warner in the middle.

18:36 IST: SIX and SIX Warner slams Chahal for two successive maximums as Hyderabad look well set to overhaul RCB's 160. Things are getting out of hand for the visitors and Kohli will need one of his bowlers to work some magic from hereon.

Royal Challengers Bangalore posted 160/6 off their 20 overs. After electing to bat, RCB lost Patel and Gayle early, but Kohli slammed 67 and de Villiers (29) and Yuvraj (21) played useful cameos as the visitors made a strong total. Sunrisers Hyderabad bounced back with some late-order wickets, but this is a score that gives the Royal Challengers Bangalore a fighting chance.

17:18 IST: WICKET! That's the end of Kohli for 67 as he perishes to Irfan Pathan. RCB 141/4 in 17.3 overs but the captain has played his part. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan would be looking for some kind of inspiration from his wife Ayesha.

After a hard-fought win over Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore would look to brighten their prospects of earning a playoffs berth with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League today.

RCB, with five wins from 11 games, need to win all their remaining matches to remain in contention for top-four spot. For Hyderabad, a loss to Bangalore will draw the curtains on their chances of a playoff spot.

Sunrisers are virtually out of the race following their seven-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders here on Sunday, but would like to achieve a win over RCB and salvage some pride.

The Bangalore side has been erratic, but A B de Villiers' 14-ball 28 cameo and Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle's decent outings is good news for the team.

In the bowling department, RCB's pacer Mitchell Starc and the seasoned Muttiah Muralidharan have been delivering the goods and they would be called upon to rise to the occasion again.

Sunrsers Hyderabad have been inconsistent this season and are having a poor run on their home ground, losing all the three matches in a row so far. (Read more)

Sammy Replaces Dhawan as Hyderabad Skipper

Relieving Shikhar Dhawan of the burden of captaincy, Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday appointed West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy as the new captain of the side for the rest of the Indian Premier League season, hoping that the move will help the Indian bat more freely. Dhawan, however, failed to make an impact again, getting out for 19 against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.

"We are hoping for a lot from Shikhar the batsman," VVS Laxman, mentor of the SRH side, said. (Read more)

Ganguly Advises Kohli to Focus on Batting

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly feels that Virat Kohli should take it easy while leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore side in the Indian Premier League, which in turn would help him focus on his primary duty scoring as many runs as possible.

"Probably, it's time he needs to sit back and think about his captaincy," Ganguly said, adding, "I had a word with Gautam Gambhir a few days back asking him to look at captaincy in a different way and I feel it is time for Virat also to do the same." (Read more)
