No boundary big enough for Gayle: Virat Kohli

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli grabs the Orange cap for being IPL's highest run getter so far but says it will be tough to keep it especially with Chris Gayle in blistering form with the bat. The Jamaican has clubbed 14 sixes so far.

Virat Kohli grabbed the Orange cap at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, but Thursday evening clearly belonged to Chris Gayle as Royal Challengers Bangalore blew away Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in an Indian Premier League match at the Garden City.

Kohli scored a breezy 35 off 27 balls to go on top of the batting charts with an aggregate of 198 runs in four matches, but it was Gayle's show as RCB went on top of the league standings with their third win in four games. Gayle smashed an unbeaten 89 off 50 balls with six No. 9 fetching the winning runs against a hapless KKR attack.

Like a young leader, whose emotions often get the better of him, Kohli dismissed his on-field spat with KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir "as a heat-of-the-moment affair" and chose to focus on a brilliant win against a top team.

"There is no boundary big enough for Gayle," said Kohli, who praised the big Jamaican for his stunning innings as RCB made shortwork of KKR's 154/8. Gayle clubbed nine sixes to take his tournament tally to 14 and audaciously said "stretch it (the boundary ropes) as far as you want...I love the challenge."

Kohli, of course said: "With the way Gayle is going, it will be difficult to keep the orange cap." The West Indian said he was in no hurry to win back the cap as long as RCB was winning.

That's team spirit for you!
