IPL spot-fixing case: police file supplementary chargesheet

The Delhi Police on Monday filed in a court here a supplementary chargesheet in the IPL spot-fixing case against alleged bookie Chandresh Jain alias Jupiter, who is claimed to be linked with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and his aide Chhota Shakeel in the organised crime syndicate.
In its around 1,000 page supplementary charge sheet filed before Additional Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma, the Special Cell of Delhi Police referred to the intercepted telephonic conversations between Jain and Salman, alias Master, who is one of the persons said to be associated with the underworld.
Besides Jain, the police in its supplementary charge sheet have also given names of the 39 accused who were chargesheeted earlier in the case.
Detailing the role of Jain, who was arrested after filing of the first charge sheet in the case, the police said he was "closely associated with underworld conduits and wanted accused person of this case namely Salman alias Master". Jain has been chargesheeted for offences under the IPC and under the stringent law Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Besides them, police have also given the names of Harvinder Singh Batra and Aman Sachdeva, who had allegedly provided mobile SIM cards on fake identity to one of the key accused Ashwani Aggarwal, as accused in its charge sheet.
It also said open non-bailable warrants have been issued against Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Shakeel, Javed Chutani and Salman, who are absconding, and the process of issuing red corner notice against absconding co-accused Praveen G Thakker, Sanjay Aggarwal, Sandeep Sharma and Mohd Shakil Amir, has been initiated.
The court has fixed the matter for December 18 for further hearing.
The police had earlier filed its 6,000-page charge sheet against 39 persons, including suspended cricketers S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila.
The police in its charge sheet had alleged Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel, who have been "controlling the fixing and betting market" in cricket in India, were behind the IPL spot-fixing.
