Pravin Tambe is 42 and has been on the domestic circuit for a long time. And finally, the perseverance and dedication of the leg-spinner seems to have paid off.
Tambe has been signed up by the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
"He has been on our radar for quite some time now, as we have been looking for a leg-spinner. He has been on the circuit for a long time and deserved a chance, said Raghu Iyer, CEO of Rajasthan Royals.
It has also emerged that Rajasthan skipper Rahul Dravid was the one who took the final call on Tambe. The Mumbaikar finally has his chance to shine amongst the big boys!
A couple of weeks ago, Tambe received his maiden Mumbai call-up for the Vijay Hazare tournament but couldn't make his debut as Mumbai were knocked out in the quarterfinals. Late last year, Tambe had represented Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in a couple of games against an England Performance Program team.
Now, the veteran can look forward to playing with the stars in the cash-rich IPL.
