IPL 2013: Initial squads announced, Hyderabad retain 20 players
Team Hyderabad - recently bought by Chennai based SUN TV - has retained over 20 players who played for the now erstwhile Deccan Chargers. In a release from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, it was announced that the trading window for players released by all other teams will open on November 19.

Team Hyderabad - recently bought by Chennai based SUN TV - has retained 20 players who played for the now erstwhile Deccan Chargers. In a release from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, it was announced that the trading window for players released by all other teams will open on November 19.
SUN TV had acquired the Hyderabad franchise at an annual figure of Rs 85.05 crore last week. (Read: SUN TV purchases Hyderabad franchise)
In the initial squad announced for the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League, the franchise retained all the players including foreign stars - Dale Steyn, Cameron White, Jean Paul-Duminy and skipper Kumar Sangakkara. (Also see - Pics: The retained and the released ahead of IPL 6)
"The Franchises have clearly focussed on performance in the IPL in making their decisions as to which players will form part of their respective core groups for the 2013 season. Each Franchise has room under the Salary Cap to be able to sign additional players," IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said. A total of 179 players' contract were extended.
There were speculations about Mumbai Indians letting Harbhajan Singh off to increase purchasing purse but reports late Wednesday had pointed to the contrary.(Read: Reports suggest Mumbai will retain Harbhajan)
According to Thursday's list, the franchise has confirmed retaining the veteran spinner. Mumbai Indians also retained Australia's Aiden Blizzard who was expected to be released.
One of the big names to not have his name in the list is England's Stuart Broad. Reports had earlier suggested that since he would be on national duty for most parts of IPL 2013, Kings XI Punjab would be releasing him.
Pune Warriors have also release Kiwi Jesse Ryder while Sourav Ganguly's name is missing as was expected. (Read: Pune may release Ryder, Ganguly opts out)
Update: NDTV has learnt that Team Hyderabad may be interested in roping in Ganguly
