India vs South Africa Statistical Highlights: When Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar Went Boom-Boom
Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar slammed the maximum number of boundaries in Tests between India and South Africa. Both master blasters will be missed when the Freedom Series starts in Mohali on November 5.

Retired South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis, with 11 boundary sixes, holds the record for the Proteas. Sehwag and Kallis are the only two batsmen to score 10 or more boundary sixes in Tests between India and South Africa. (India vs South Africa: Sehwag's 319 Still the Highest)
Tendulkar, with 242 boundary fours, holds the record for most boundary fours by an Indian batsman against South Africa. Kallis, with 173 boundary fours, holds the record for South African. (Five Talking Points Ahead of India- South Africa Test)
Tendulkar and Kallis are the only two batsmen to score 10 or more fifties in India-South Africa Test series. Both batsmen have scored 12 fifties. Both have scored seven centuries and five half centuries.
Kallis Has Most Runs in a Three-Test Series
Kallis, with an aggregate of 498 runs in the three-Test series against India in 2010-11, holds the record for most runs in a series by a South African batsman against India. Mohammed Azharuddin, with 388 runs in the three-Test series against South Africa in 1996-97, holds the corresponding record for an Indian against the Proteas. It is interesting to note that no batsman has aggregated 500-plus runs in a Test series between the two teams.
Anil Kumble is India's Best Bowler
Three Indian bowlers -- Anil Kumble (84), Javagal Srinath (64) and Harbhajan Singh (60) -- have an aggregate of 50-plus wickets against South Africa. Three South African bowlers - Dale Steyn (63), Allan Donald (57) and Shaun Pollock (52) -- have an aggregate of 50-plus wickets against India.
Lance Klusener's 8 for 64 at Kolkata in November 1996 is the best innings bowling effort by a South African bowler against India. It also represents the best innings bowling effort by a bowler in India-South Africa Test series.
Klusener is the only bowler to capture eight wickets in an innings in India-South Africa Test series. Harbhajan Singh with 7 for 87 at Kolkata in November 2004 holds the record for the best innings bowling effort by an Indian bowler against South Africa.
Five-star Harbhajan, Srinath
Indian bowlers have captured five or more wickets in an innings on 17 occasions against South Africa. Harbhajan and Srinath share the record for most five-wicket hauls against South Africa. Both bowlers have taken five-plus wickets in an innings on four occasions.
South African bowlers have captured five or more wickets in an innings on 15 occasions against India. Steyn with five five or more wicket hauls holds the record for most five-wicket hauls against India.
Donald -- 12 for 139 at Port Elizabeth in December 1992, Steyn -- 10 for 108 at Nagpur in February 2010 and Pollock - 10 for 147 at Bloemfontein in November 2001 -- are the three South African bowlers who have captured 10 or more wickets in a Test against India.
Venkatesh Prasad with his 10 for 153 at Durban in December 1996 is the only Indian bowler who has captured 10 or more wickets in a Test against South Africa.
