The contributions of all the three batsmen helped South Africa shatter plenty of records in the match. Here are some statistical highlights in this match
- # Quinton de Kock notched up his fifth century in nine ODIs against India. He has now scored over 667 runs at an average of 74.11 against India. There is no doubt now that India is De Kock's favourite opposition.
# This is the second time in ODI history that three batsmen have scored hundreds in an innings. Incidentally, South Africa are the team to have achieved it both times. The first instance was in Sydney during the 2015 World Cup against the West Indies. In that match, Hashim Amla, Rillee Rossouw and AB de Villiers slammed centuries. In this match, De Kock, Faf du Plessis and de Villiers smashed centuries. (Amla Breaks Kohli's Record)
# South Africa notched up 438/4. This is now the highest ever ODI score in India, beating the previous mark of 418/5 that was achieved by India against the West Indies in Indore in 2011. In that match, Virender Sehwag had smashed 219.
# South Africa's total is the fourth-best total in ODI history. Sri Lanka have the highest score of 443/9 against the Netherlands in Amstelveen in 2006 while South Africa blasted 439/2 against the West Indies in Johannesburg in 2015. Incidentally, in that match, de Villiers had scored the fastest century in ODIs off 31 balls.
# Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 106 runs in his 10 overs. This is the most number of runs conceded in an ODI innings by an Indian bowler, breaking R Vinay Kumar's mark of 9-0-102-1 against Australia in Bangalore in 2013. It puts him second in the all-time list behind Australia's Mick Lewis, who was smashed for 113 runs in 10 overs during the Johannesburg ODI of 2006.
# South Africa blasted 20 sixes in their innings at the Wankhede. The record is 22 sixes by New Zealand against West Indies in Queenstown in 2014. Remarkably, that was a 21-over match and Corey Anderson had scored a century off 36 balls, which was then the fastest century in ODIs.
