Cheteshwar Pujara's initiation into the game of cricket was no surprise as his father - Aravind Shivlal Pujara and uncle Bipin Shivlal Pujara - have played Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. He has cricket blood running in him
Father Aravind represented Saurashtra in six games. He was an occasional wicketkeeper too. Uncle Bipin represented Saurashtra in 36 first-class game scoring 1631 runs with the help of two hundreds and 12 half centuries. His span was from 1983-84 to 1996-97. He represented Saurashtra in a lone List A game
Cheteshwar Pujara was born on 25.01.1988 at Rajkot. He has represented Saurashtra in 76 first class matches appearing in 125 innings which includes eleven Tests and 18 innings.
He has also represented India in three under-19 games and has an aggregate of 314 runs with highest score of 211. He has scored one hundred and one fifty.
Cheteshwar's hundred - a double hundred - 211 came against England Under19s at Jamshedpur in Feb 2005. He opened the India's innings in this game. He faced 352 deliveries and contained 26 boundary fours. He stayed at the crease for 485 minutes. He added 217 runs for the third wicket in the company of Manoj Tiwari. Tiwari scored 109 in this game. Cheteshwar was making his debut in Youth Under19 Tests in this game. Ambati Rayudu captained India in this game.
Cheteshwar made his Ranji Trophy debut against Vidarbha at Madhav Rao Scindia Cricket Ground in Dec 2005. He scored 11 and 14 and batted at number five in both innings. His first hundred in Ranji Trophy - 145 - came against Goa - in his second Ranji game at the same venue where he had made his debut. Batting at number five, his innings of 145 contained 21 boundary fours. He occupied the crease for 319 minutes and faced 245 deliveries.
CA Pujara has scored 20 first class hundreds. He has scored two triple hundred- 352 vs Karnataka at Rajkot in Jan 2013 which is highest individual score in his first class career. His first triple hundred was against Orissa at Rajkot in Nov 2008 when he scored 302 not out.
He has scored five first class double hundreds and that includes the two double hundreds he has scored in Tests. Pujara made his Test debut against Australia at Bangalore in Oct 2010. He scored a fifty on his Test debut by making 72 in the second innings. He has played 11 tests, 18 innings, three not outs, 1017 runs at an average of 58.07 runs per innings. He has scored four centuries and one half century.
