Ten-year-old Shubham Jaglan created history by winning the International Junior Golf Academy World Stars event in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
He brought home a score of 106 in three rounds to win by five strokes, ahead of two Americans Justin Dang and Sihan Sandhu and Thailand's Pongsapak Laopakdee for the Boys 9-10 years category title at the Angel Park.
Less than a week back, the son of a milkman from rural Haryana, scripted a scintillating one-stroke win at the Junior World Golf Championships being played at Welk Resort Fountain Course in California. The victory in Las Vegas was his second world title in two weeks.
These three years have been a game changer for Shubham. He was taken under the wing of The Golf Foundation, who helped relocate the family to New Delhi so that he could pursue the sport. The Foundation helped him with training, equipment and tournament exposure. Under coach Nonita Lall Qureshi, he has won over a 100 junior events and that number is just increasing every week.
The young man was elated with his success.
"It feels great. All my friends are congratulating me," he said in an exclusive interview to NDTV.
"I am just working hard and being honest, there are no short-cuts for me," he added.
On a lighter note Shubham said that his father was ensuring that he was in a calm state of mind.
"I want to celebrate but my dad wants me to stay grounded," he said.
Shubham was also thankful to NDTV for making him known on the world stage.
"NDTV made me known and my life has changed since then," said the teen sensation.
