Who is Vilasrao Deshmukh?
Vilasrao Deshmukh, 66, was elected president of the prestigious and rich Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Friday. He defeated former India captain Dileep Vengsarkar in a much-watched election held in Mumbai.

Vilasrao Deshmukh, 66, was elected president of the prestigious and rich Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Friday. He defeated former India captain Dileep Vengsarkar in a much-watched election held in Mumbai.
Deshmukh, who belongs to the Latur district in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, has been associated with the MCA as its joint vice-president since 2009, along with Vengsarkar.
A former Maharashtra chief minister, Deshmukh had the support of Maratha strongman Sharad Pawar, the outgoing MCA president, in this election. Deshmukh is a member of the Rajya Sabha and the Cabinet minister for Science and Technology. His son, Ritesh Deshmukh, is a popular Bollywood actor.
