Wasim Akram's wife dies in Chennai

Chennai:

Former Pakistani Captain Waism Akram's wife Huma Wasim passed away in Chennai.

Huma was on her away to Singapore for treatment when she suffered complications and the plane was forced to land in Chennai. Huma was admitted at the intensive care unit of Chennai's Apollo hospital but she succumbed to multilpe organ failure on Sunday morning.

Wasim is said to be completing the documentation to make him take the body back to Pakistan.

A family source said that Huma had not been keeping well for sometime and was advised to go to Singapore by Pakistani doctors.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt and chief operating officer Wasim Bari expressed the PCB's grief.

"We are with Wasim and his family at this hour of need and pray to God to give them strength to bear this great and irreparable loss," PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said a statement.

"All the management of PCB and fellow cricketers have also extended their condolences and prayed eternal peace for the departed soul."
