Wellington, New Zealand:
Vettori was awarded the Windsor Cup as New Zealand's top international cricketer and was also named its best first-class bowler and allrounder at the televised awards ceremony in Auckland.
Moles attended the ceremony but politely declined comment on reports top players had pressed New Zealand Cricket to fire him.
Vettori was evasive on the reported revolt, which some media have speculated could see Moles dumped before the New Zealand team leaves next Tuesday for the United Arab Emirates where it will play Pakistan in a series of one-day and Twenty20 internationals.
New Zealand Cricket has said Moles will remain in charge of the national team on that tour and it now seems his future will be decided in employment mediation.
Vettori was cautious when asked if he was happy with Moles continuing as coach.
"I think we have to be," he said. "There's no point me making statements to the contrary. I think we have to prepare to take a team away and get the best out of them.
"Andy and I have a good working relationship but whether that's enough to make the team better is the question that's been asked."
Vettori said he would work with Moles to ensure New Zealand won the Pakistan series.
"Our relationship stands strong in what we need to do. Andy and I are at the helm and until we know anything different, that's the status quo," he said
Vettori would not confirm reports New Zealand players were dissatisfied with Moles' technical and tactical input.
"I don't think I'd put it in those terms. We're not sitting around trying to plot Andy's demise," he said. "Whenever players are asked honest questions about anything they give their answers. I think guys have voiced ways of making the team better.
"Part of that is my captaincy, part of it is players fronting up and a part of it is Andy improving as well. We just want the best for the team."
