Suresh Shastri to become first Indian umpire to officiate in hundred first-class matches

In is an amazing coincidence that Suresh Shastri's umpiring debut was also in a Ranji match between Hyderabad and Kerala, in Secunderabad back in 1990-91. He has officiated in 2 Tests, 19 ODIS and one T20 International. He has also been the third umpire in many international games. He was part of the ICC Umpires Panel from 2006 to 2009.

Suresh Shastri to become first Indian umpire to officiate in hundred first-class matches

The Ranji Trophy Group 'C' game between Hyderabad and Kerala starting December 30, which will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad, will be umpire Suresh Shastri's 100th first-class game. He will be the first Indian umpire to achieve such a distinction.

Shastri represented Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy. He was a left-arm spinner and righ-hand batsman and played 53 first-class matches in all, from 1972-73 to 1986-87. He took 155 wickets and scored 968 runs.
