Austin Waugh is making headlines in Australia, very much like his illustrious dad Steve Waugh did in the Eighties and Nineties.
Steve Waugh's teenaged son smashed a match-winning century for New South Wales Metro in the final of the Under 17 National Championships in Brisbane.
Waugh's unbeaten 122 came off just 136 deliveries, and included four 4s and four 6s, after NSW Metro had slipped to 57 for four against Queensland.
The teenager propelled his side to a total of 274 for six wickets from 50 overs at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
NSW Metro dismissed Queensland for 122 in reply to secure a 152-run win.
The knock took Waugh's tournament tally to 372 runs from eight innings, at an average of 74.4.
After scraping through to the final with a nail-biting win against Western Australia in the semi-finals, NSW Metro were far too strong for Queensland.
Queensland skipper Angus Lovell won the toss and chose to bowl first, which looked a good decision when his bowlers rocked NSW Metro.
But Aiden Bariol joined second-drop Waugh at the crease, combining for a 199-run stand.
Bariol was bowled for 85 chasing quick runs in the final 10 overs, but Waugh - showing fine temperament like his super cool dad - continued on, reaching 122 not out off 136 balls at the end of 50 overs.
Steve Waugh was one of Australia's most successful captains. He led Australia in 15 of their world-record 16 consecutive Test wins and to the 1999 World Cup title, he played 168 Tests and scored 10,927 runs.
