Canberra:
Sri Lanka's warmup match ahead of its tri-series limited-overs tournament with Australia and India has been rained out.
Sri Lanka was to have played a Prime Minister's XI invitational team captained by Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin, who has been dropped from the national team for the start of the tri-series.
But persistent rain on Friday at Manuka Oval from the scheduled start time of 10 a.m. (2300 GMT Thursday) forced officials to call the match off four hours later.
Sri Lanka plays its first tri-series match Wednesday against India in Perth. The series opens Sunday when Australia plays India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
