Sri Lankan middle order batsmen Lahiru Thirimanne and Dinesh Chandimal scored maiden hundreds in a host of other statistical landmarks that were achieved on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh at Galle. Here is a list.
# Sri Lanka (570/4d) have recorded their second highest total against Bangladesh, next only to the 577 for six wickets declared at Colombo, SSC in 2007.
# Sri Lanka have registered 500 or more against Bangladesh five times in Tests - twice at Colombo, SSC and once each at Kandy, Galle and Colombo, PSS.
# Sri Lanka's aforesaid total is their second highest at Galle, next only to the 590 for 9 declared against the West Indies in November 2001.
# Ten times in a test innings, three hundreds have been recorded for Sri Lanka - second time against Bangladesh.
# For the third time in a Test innings, three Sri Lankan players between number three and six have recorded hundreds - the earlier instances being against India at Colombo, SSC in 2008 and against Pakistan at Lahore in 2008-09.
# Twenty eight times, Sri Lanka have recorded 500 or more in a Test innings but only four times they have lost four or less wickets while achieving the said total.
# Lahiru Thirimanne (155 not out) has registered his highest score in Tests - his maiden hundred.
# Dinesh Chandimal (116 not out) has posted his maiden hundred in Tests. In eleven innings played by him till date, Chandimal has posted a hundred and four fifties - his aggregate being 481 at an average of 53.44.
# Chandimal and Thirimanne were involved in a partnership of 203 (unbroken) - the third highest for Sri Lanka for the fifth wicket against Bangladesh.
# The aforesaid partnership is the highest by any pair for the fifth wicket at Galle.
# Sohag Gazi (50-6-164-3) has bowled fifty overs in a Test innings for the second time. Against the West Indies at Khulna in November 2012, he had bowled 57.3 overs.
# Eleven times in a Test innings, a Bangladeshi bowler has delivered 50 overs or more in a Test innings - their first instance against Sri Lanka.
# Shahadat Hossain has recorded his worst bowling figures in a Test innings against Sri Lanka.
# Mohammad Ashraful's second fifty against Sri Lanka is his ninth in Tests.
