Dubai:
South Africa's bowling coach Alan Donald returned home because of undisclosed family reasons and high performance coach Vincent Barnes will replace him on Monday.
Team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee says Donald "has been granted extended leave of absence and he needs time to sort things out."
Barnes, who is also one of the selectors, was due to join the team for the one-day series against Pakistan, but Moosajee says he will now arrive earlier.
Hashim Amla is already in South Africa to be with his wife, who is expecting the couple's second child and it's not clear whether Proteas' top batsman will return before the second Test begins Wednesday.
Pakistan lead the two-match test series 1-0 after a seven-wicket victory at Abu Dhabi.
