A ton eluded Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday by a large margin but this time, the master blaster can blame Brett Lee for taking the chance away from him.
India had already lost Virender Sehwag but Tendulkar's two boundaries kept hopes of a firm foundation alive for the visitors. It all came undone when Gautam Gambhir jabbed a Brett Lee delivery to point and the two batsmen ran for a single. Lee ran across the pitch to field but stops mid-way, only to block a charging Tendulkar.
Although TV commentators agreed it was unintentional on the part of the Australian bowler, David Warner's under-arm throw struck the stumps to dismiss Tendulkar.
The legendary batsman threw up his arms in utter frustration but the umpire had already signaled a wicket for the hosts. Although there have been such instances in the past where the fielding side has called back the dismissed batsman. On Sunday, there was no such generosity shown as Australia went on to win the match by 87 runs, bowling India out on 165.
