British artist Sacha Jafri's canvas of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who scored his 100th international hundred last week, has fetched $750,000.
Jafri, who is a major exhibitor at Art Dubai which opened on Tuesday, will be donating the money to the MS Dhoni Foundation that provides food, water and shelter to some of the poorest children.
"I am delighted by this sale and will be donating the money to the MS Dhoni Foundation which provides food, water and shelter to some of the poorest children in India," Jafri told Khaleej Times.
Apart from Tendulkar, the painting has the handprints of 40 world class players. Some of them are Dhoni, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid, Wasim Akram, Shahid Afridi, Andrew Strauss, Ricky Ponting, and Courtney Walsh.
The frame of the painting is made from the willow of a dozen cricket bats signed by the 12 top run-scorers of all time with six cricket balls signed by the top six wicket-takers of all time, all uniquely sewn into the canvas.
