New Delhi:
Rajasthan Royals on Monday assured its contracted players that their payment issues and other obligations would be honoured by the IPL franchise which was expelled by the BCCI last Sunday.
The expulsion of Rajasthan Royals from the IPL have caused uncertainty about the future of the cricket league and top players from the side are concerned about their salaries and present status.
"There has been news in certain sections of the media on payment issues of Rajasthan Royals' players. We would take this opportunity to state that we have personally spoken with all our players to advise them of the situation regarding their payments," Rajasthan Royals spokesperson said in a statement.
"Every player has been assured that we will honour all our obligations to them and we have received many messages of support from our team, all of whom are comfortable with how we are managing the situation.
"We have also spoken to the CEO of the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) and the CEO's of all the players associations to apprise them of the position," he added.
The spokesperson also said that the Rajasthan Royals are awaiting a huge amount from the BCCI under the IPL agreement.
"We would also like to state that we are still awaiting outstanding monies amounting to circa Rs 40 cr (Rupees Forty Crores), owed to us by the BCCI under the franchise agreement from seasons 2 and 3," he said.
"We have been advised that other franchises have been paid their dues for these periods and to date we have received no communication from BCCI or explanation as to what is the cause of the delay, despite our written requests for payment made over some time now.
"Rajasthan Royals will maintain the policy of transparent communication with all our stakeholders and remain in open dialogue with them throughout the days and weeks that it takes to complete the satisfactory resolution of the current allegations," the statement said.
The champions of the first edition of IPL, Rajasthan Royals were expelled from the cash-rich league last Sunday on grounds of various irregularities along with another high profile franchise Kings XI Punjab.
