Lahore:
The PCB said on Thursday it was working with the Wales and England cricket board to host the match between the Pakistan eleven and an international eleven during the Pakistan team's ongoing tour to England.
"This is the ideal opportunity for us to play our role in raising funds for the millions of people who have been displaced by the floods. We want to play our role in their rehabilitation," a official of the board said.
He said the PCB had already started contacting the different boards including the Indian board to make available some of their players for the exhibition match.
"Obviously we have a large population of Asians in the United Kingdom and the presence of Indian, Sri Lankan and Bangladesh players in the international eleven will be a big selling point," he said.
He said details of the match and its logistics were being worked with the help of the ECB under whose jurisdiction the match would be held.
A statement of the PCB said today that the match would be played between the Pakistan eleven and an International eleven on a date yet to be finalized.
"We are trying to organise an exhibition match for the benefit of the millions of Pakistanis affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan with the support of the ECB," the statement said.
Some 2000 people have been killed and millions displaced by the floods that have ravaged many parts of the country and are still continuing to cause havoc and devastating leading to the government appealing to the international community for aid and help for the displaced people.
"Proceeds of the match will go towards the rehabilitation of families displaced by the worst floods in the country's history," the statement said.
