The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the names of young batsman Asad Shafiq and pacer Muhammad Irfan as replacement of its suspended players.

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday announced the names of young batsman Asad Shafiq and left-arm pace bowler Muhammad Irfan as replacement of its suspended players, for the one-day series in England.

Although ICC provisionally suspended three players --Test captain Salman Butt, Mohammed Asif and Mohammad Aamir, the board gave out just two names.

The trio was handed suspension on charges of spot-fixing, exposed through a sting operation by a British tabloid.

The PCB the two players would fly to England to join the team by next week.

"The two are presently playing in Sri Lanka with the national A team. The selectors have picked them as replacements as they were among the standbys for the one-day series," a board official said.

The PCB said if needed, more replacements may be named.

Shafiq has played one ODI in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in June, Irfan who is 6 feet 9 inch tall, is yet to make his debut for the national team.

Both performed exceptionally well in domestic cricket, last season.

The International Cricket Council suspended the trio of Butt, Asif and Aamir on Thursday night.
